Frequently asked questions.

  • It is not possible to determine the pass percentage for Lantite, because it does not have a set number of questions you must answer correctly to pass the test.

Instead, there is a complex marking system that determines your achievement level based on your correct responses to basic and complex questions in each skill area.

This excerpt below is quoted from the results page of ACER’s website:

“As the questions in each test administration vary to ensure test integrity, the exact number of questions a candidate must answer correctly to meet the standard also varies. Results for each test administration are determined based on the standard required, irrespective of the version of the test administered. Consequently, test results are not immediately available at the end of the test window because there is a rigorous process of psychometric analysis and quality assurance. It is also not possible to provide the number of questions or a percentage figure needed to meet the standard.”

  • No. Everyone who meets the pass mark will pass the test. This is a common misunderstanding related to the statement that the Lantite test ensures candidates have literacy and numeracy skills comparable to the top the 30% of the wider Australian population. The pass mark for the Lantite test has been set to reflect this skill level. Therefore, everyone in a given test window can demonstrate this skill level simultaneously by attaining the Lantite pass mark. If you achieve the pass mark, you can rest assured that you will pass the test, irrespective of the results of others.

  • Just over 90% of pre-service teachers pass Lantite on their first attempt.

  • The best way to check whether you will pass the test is to complete the ACER numeracy practice test or literacy practice test. You will receive the best indication of your skills if you complete it within a continuous 2 hour period under exam conditions. Attempt all questions, but don’t guess responses in the practice test. If you have to guess, you don’t know it yet. Lastly, mark your test using the numeracy test report or literacy test report. Use table 1 to mark your answers, table 2 to total your scores and table 3 to compare it to the expected standard. If each of your skill areas are at or above the expected standard you will likely pass on your next attempt. However, if you are only slightly above the minimum ranges or found the test very difficult, we would recommend extra preparation through the ACER Practice Material or booking a session with us.

  • If you have trouble evaluating your current achievement level, you can send us a photo of the completed table 2 via WhatsApp, by emailing it to admin@jtutoring.com.au or by visiting our contact page.
